A LETTER BEFORE WE BEGIN
Before we begin
If you've read The Closing Spell, you know it took me almost two years to fully let go of a four-year relationship. What I didn't tell you there is what happened after I truly let it go, because that part wasn't about letting go. It was about this.
I spent nearly a whole year not letting anyone get close. Not because I was still hooked on what came before (by then I'd closed that properly), but because, without realizing it, I kept standing in the same spot, staring at the same door, even though I already knew no one was ever coming through it again.
It was a friend who told me straight, no anesthesia, one ordinary night over drinks: you've spent a year single talking about the whole room except the door he walked out of. Turn around already, woman. It stung in the moment. And she was completely right.
That night I understood something that is now the entire foundation of this book: I didn't have an attraction problem in front of me. I had a direction problem. I was still available, still myself, still had everything I'd always had. I was just staring at the one spot in the room where there was nothing left.
It's not that no one is arriving. It's that you've been staring at the same door for so long you've forgotten the room has more walls.
This book is not a ritual to make a specific person appear. You already know, if you've read The Love Spell, that this is a completely different work, with a different energy and a different purpose. This one is for when you're no longer waiting on anyone in particular, and yet something inside you still won't let anyone in, whoever approaches.
Read it whole before lighting anything. And keep this line for chapter IV: your magnetism never went out. What changed was where you were looking.
With love,
Valeria
CHAPTER I
What attraction is (and what it isn't)
Before we go on, let's separate two things people constantly confuse, because if we don't, you're going to expect something this book doesn't do.
This is not a ritual to make one specific person notice you. If you have someone in mind, name and all, and what you want is for that exact person to choose you, the book you need is The Love Spell, not this one. Mixing the two desires into one working is the fastest way to make sure neither works well.
This isn't a ritual to become irresistible overnight either, as if you'll walk outside and everyone will turn to look. That doesn't exist, and whoever promises it is selling you an expensive fantasy.
Here's what this actually is: a work so you stop being, without knowing it, closed off to anyone new arriving. Because here's the secret almost no woman says to herself out loud: often what's missing isn't someone to arrive. What's missing is you looking toward where they arrive.
A REAL STORY
Nuria had spent two years "open to love," in her own words, signed up on two apps, saying yes to every plan with friends. And yet, nothing ever took hold. When I looked at her cards I didn't see any closure missing anywhere: I saw a woman who, without realizing it, compared every new person to someone from years ago, on every first date, every conversation. She was in the whole room, yes. But she was still standing there staring at the same old door, measuring every new visitor against the one who'd walked out through it.
This spell isn't going to bring you one specific person. It's going to turn you toward the whole room.
What happens after you turn, who comes in, when and how, that no longer depends on a candle. It depends on you, for the first time in a long while, truly looking toward where it can happen.
CHAPTER II
Why you're still turned away without knowing it
No one decides, on purpose, to stay staring at an empty door. In eleven years I've seen the same five reasons repeat, with different faces every time. Read these calmly. By the end you'll recognize your own.
1. Automatic comparison Without meaning to, you measure every new person against someone from before. And they almost always lose, not because they're worse, but because the old one has already had time to be polished by memory, and the new one hasn't had a single chance yet.
2. Fear dressed up as high standards "I just won't settle for anyone" can be true, and it can also be an elegant way of rejecting everyone before risking being hurt again. Both can be true at once, and it's worth looking at honestly.
3. The habit of being alone After a while, loneliness stops hurting and starts to feel safe, predictable, yours. Letting someone in also means letting in the chaos of something new. And part of you, with no bad intention, prefers the known even if it's empty.
4. Being only half available You say yes to dates, to apps, to plans. But you show up with half your energy there and the other half anywhere else: work, a memory, your phone. And people, even without being able to name it, can always tell when someone isn't fully present.
5. The body, which hasn't caught up yet Sometimes your mind has already decided to be open, but your body is still tense, closed, in protection mode, out of pure habit from recent years. And the body, in this, almost always speaks louder than the mind.
Think for a moment which of the five sounds most like you. The ritual works better when you know exactly where you're still looking.
CHAPTER III
The room you stopped looking at
I want you to do an exercise before reading on, because it's going to make the rest of the book make much more sense.
Close your eyes for a moment, if you can, and picture a large room, with many different doors and windows, light coming in from several places at once. That room is you: your whole life, your time, your attention, everything you have available to give and to receive.
Now picture that, at some point, someone walked out through one of those doors. And that you, from that day on, stayed standing right in front of that specific door. At first with reason: it hurt there, there was something to look at, there was grieving to do. But months pass, sometimes years, and you're still in exactly the same spot, eyes fixed on the same closed wood, not even noticing how long you've had your back turned to everything else.
And here's what almost no one sees from inside: that room never stopped having other doors. Windows letting in new light every day. People crossing through other places, at other moments, while you kept your eyes fixed on that exact same point.
There's no need to force anyone through any specific door. What's needed is simply to stop looking at only one. Turn around. See the whole room again as it really is: full of places something new can come through, not empty the way it looks when you only look at the same spot all the time.
Before going on, ask yourself honestly: if you close your eyes right now, which door do you turn to first, without thinking? That's your door. The one you're going to name in the ritual, not to close it again (if that was needed, you already did it in another working), but to finally stop staring at it.
CHAPTER IV
The mechanism: Venus and where your Mars is looking
If you already know another book in this collection, you know each Valeria ritual has its own bridge. Here the bridge doesn't join two energies that are missing. It joins one that never left with another that decides which direction it moves in.
What never went out
In the tradition of correspondences, magnetism, beauty, everything that makes someone effortlessly attractive, belongs to Venus. And here's the first thing I want you to truly understand: your Venus never went out. She doesn't go out with age, or with disappointment, or with a long time single. She is a constant background energy, yours since you were born.
The problem isn't there. The problem is on a completely different planet.
What decides where you look
Mars rules direction, impulse, where your energy moves in the world. He's the planet of action, of forward motion, of physically turning toward something. And when Mars gets stuck looking backward, toward an old door, it doesn't matter how brightly your Venus shines: no one sees her, because you yourself have your back to the room.
This is exactly the opposite of what happens in other works in this collection. In The Confession Spell, the problem was that something couldn't come out. Here nothing is stuck inside: there's something shining that's simply looking in the wrong direction.
The Bridge of Attraction
Venus never stopped shining. There's no need to light her. She never went out.
What's needed is for Mars, finally, to turn around.
This work doesn't call anyone toward a door. It turns your whole body toward the room, so that what was always there can finally be seen.
A REAL STORY
When I explained this to Nuria, the woman who compared every new date to someone from years ago, the first thing she did wasn't delete any apps or change her strategy. She wrote that old person's name on a piece of paper, folded it, and told me something that sums up this whole book: I've spent two years thinking the problem was that I couldn't find anyone who measured up to him. And the problem was I kept measuring everyone with a ruler I shouldn't be using anymore.
CHAPTER V
When to do it
The day: Tuesday
Tuesday is Mars's day. It's the day of impulse, of movement, of turning your body toward where you weren't looking before. Doing it on a Friday, Venus's day, would be working the energy you already have plenty of, instead of the one that needs to move.
The moon: waxing
From new moon to full. You're looking for something new to start entering your life, so the growing phase is the one that supports this work, just as it supports other opening rituals in this collection.
The ideal night: the first Tuesday of the waxing moon after the new moon. That's when Mars's impulse has the whole cycle ahead to gain strength.
The hour: between 7:00 and 9:00 PM
The end of the afternoon, when there's still some light but night is already near. It's a transition moment, similar to the one you're going to ask of your own body: moving from looking backward to looking at what's coming.
If you can't wait for Tuesday
Any night during a waxing moon works as an exception, even if it's not Tuesday. But only once. The combination of both is what gives this work its full strength.
CHAPTER VI
What you need
1. A red or orange candle Mars's color: impulse, direction, movement. If you can't find either, a white candle does the same job.
2. A pink candle This is Venus, the magnetism that never went out. You'll light it second, not first, and you'll understand why in the step-by-step.
3. A small mirror you can hold You'll use it for something very specific: seeing yourself looking the other way, literally, with your own eyes.
4. Paper and a red or black pen Unlined if possible.
5. Something you can turn in your hand A compass if you have one, or if not, any small object with a marked side in some way (a stone with a mark, a coin with heads and tails). You'll physically turn it during the ritual, and the gesture matters as much as the object.
6. A glass of water It represents the whole room, everything you haven't looked at yet.
If you don't have a compass or marked stone, any small object you can turn in your hand works exactly the same. What you can't skip is the mirror: it's what does the real work in this ritual.
CHAPTER VII
Preparing the space
STEP 1 — Move at least one small piece of furniture Even a chair, even a cushion. Before asking your energy to change direction, let your physical space shift a little too. It's symbolic and real at the same time.
STEP 2 — Turn off your phone No looking at any app, any profile, tonight. You're here to look at the whole room, not a screen showing one face at a time.
STEP 3 — Put on something that makes you feel good about yourself Not for anyone else. For you, in your own home, tonight. It's part of the work, not a whim.
STEP 4 — Set your materials with your back to the room's entrance Literally: you, seated, facing into the room, not toward the entrance. The red or orange candle in front, the pink one right behind it. The mirror and the turning object at hand.
CHAPTER VIII
The ritual, step by step
Read it all before starting. This ritual has a real physical movement in it, so make sure you have room to move a little.
STEP 1 — Light Mars Light the red or orange candle first. While lighting it, say out loud: "I look toward where I've been avoiding looking." You're naming the movement before making it.
STEP 2 — Write which door you're still staring at On the paper, write honestly what or who that specific door is. It can be a person. It can simply be an idea of what "should" have already happened by now.
STEP 3 — Light Venus Light the pink candle now, just behind the red or orange one. She's been there, shining, even if until now she was behind your own back where you couldn't see her.
STEP 4 — Look at yourself in the mirror, in profile, facing the red candle Hold the mirror so you see yourself looking to one side. Stay like that, in silence, for a few seconds. Notice what it feels like to be that way, in profile, halfway.
STEP 5 — Turn fully toward both candles Slowly, with your whole body, not just your head. As you turn, say: "I turn around. Both energies have been here the whole time." This is the movement that gives the whole ritual its name. Don't rush it.
STEP 6 — Turn the object in your hand Three times, slowly, while looking at both flames together. You're teaching your body the gesture of changing direction, not just the idea.
STEP 7 — Say the words With the paper in one hand and the object in the other, read the invocation on the next page out loud.
STEP 8 — Close Let the candles burn as long as you can leave them. Drink a little of the water. Keep the paper, the mirror, and the object together: from now on they form one single set, not separate pieces.
CHAPTER IX
The exact words
Read them out loud, slowly, in Step 7.
I've spent time staring at the same door. Today I turn around.
I'm not here to call anyone specific. I'm here to see the whole room again.
My own light never went out. I was just looking where there was nothing left to see.
Let the eyes that stayed closed on one side alone open. Let what's meant to come in, come in, through wherever it needs to.
I'm already looking. That was the only thing missing.
It is said.
Why these words and no others
Notice that at no point is a specific person named, nor is it asked that someone in particular appear. That's no accident: it's the exact difference between this working and The Love Spell. Here no one is called. The view simply opens. Whatever comes in afterward, comes in because you can finally see it, not because the ritual called it from anywhere.
CHAPTER X
The seal: the mirror and the door
The mirror
Carry it with you for a few days, in your bag, in a pocket. Every time you find it without looking for it, look at yourself for a second, facing forward this time, not in profile. It's the physical reminder of which way you decided to look.
The paper naming the door
Keep it folded in a drawer, not to forget it, but so it stops being in front of your eyes all the time. It's still part of your story. It no longer needs to stand in the center of your room.
The object you turned
Leave it somewhere you pass through in your home, the entryway, the hall. Every time you see it coming or going, it's a small reminder that the door you walk through every day also counts as part of the whole room.
CHAPTER XI
The following three nights
For the following three nights, before sleep, you're going to repeat a simple gesture.
STEP 1 — Night one Look at yourself in the mirror, facing forward, and say: "Today I looked the other way, even if just for a second." Think of one specific moment in the day when you really did it, however small.
STEP 2 — Night two Repeat the gesture. Notice if today you said yes to something, or someone, you would have previously dismissed by automatic comparison with what you always do.
STEP 3 — Night three Repeat the gesture one last time and add: "The room is bigger than I've been seeing for a while."
During these three nights, deliberately avoid direct contact with whatever you wrote on the ritual paper, if you can. It's not a punishment or a forever ban. You just need these days for the new direction to settle before exposing yourself to the old one again.
CHAPTER XII
The signs that it's working
1. You notice people you didn't notice before At work, on the street, in familiar places. It's not that new people appear out of nowhere: it's that your own gaze starts registering what used to pass by unnoticed.
2. You stop comparing on the first date Or the first conversation, or the first encounter, whatever kind it is. One day you realize you're valuing someone for who they are, not for what they aren't compared to someone else.
3. You feel like dressing up for yourself, not for anyone A desire to please yourself that you hadn't felt in a while. It's one of the clearest signs Mars has already turned.
4. Dreams about rooms, doors, or new houses The mind works a lot with this kind of symbolism while the change of direction settles inside.
5. Someone appears in a way you weren't expecting Not necessarily a partner: it could be a friendship, an unexpected connection, someone entering your life through a door you didn't even know you had open.
A REAL STORY
Three weeks after her ritual, Nuria wrote to me something that still feels to me like the best possible description of this work truly succeeding. "I haven't met anyone special yet, Valeria. But for the first time in two years, I'm not waiting for it to happen. I'm just looking around."
The timeline: in my experience, this moves between day 5 and day 30, almost always starting with small shifts in how you feel about yourself before any visible outside change. If by day 30 you still feel exactly as turned away as before, it means the door you named carries more weight than this book alone can work through, and that's exactly where a personalized reading comes in.
CHAPTER XIII
What blocks the ritual
1. Doing it thinking of a specific person you want back This isn't that working, and mixing it with that specific intention confuses the two energies. If that's what you need, The Love Spell is your book.
2. Still checking the old door out of habit If within a few days you're back checking the profile, going over the old conversation, waiting for the usual sign, you're asking your body to turn backward again.
3. Rejecting the new for not resembling the old If something or someone appears and you dismiss it right away just because "it's not what I was looking for," it's worth asking yourself whether it truly doesn't fit, or simply doesn't resemble the old door.
4. Doing it out of desperation at being alone If tonight what you feel is urgency, anguish over time passing, wait for a Tuesday when you're calmer. What's asked for from anguish is received with that same tension.
CHAPTER XIV
Frequently asked questions
Can I do this ritual if I haven't fully closed the last chapter yet? You can, but it's going to be harder. If you feel the old door is still very open, The Closing Spell often clears the path a lot before this one.
Does it work for attracting friendships, not just a partner? Yes. The mechanism is the same: stop looking at only one type of bond and open yourself to the whole room, which includes far more than romantic love.
How long should I wait between closing something and doing this ritual? There's no fixed rule, but in practice it works better once you can name the old door without your voice shaking. If it still shakes, give it a little more time.
Can I repeat it if I don't notice anything? In two different moons, yes. Before repeating it, honestly review chapter XIII: almost always, if it isn't working, it's because you're still staring at the old door without realizing it.
Does it combine with other rituals in the collection? Very well with The Closing Spell, if what you need is to let go first and open up after. And if what you truly want is one specific person, not the whole room, this isn't your book: that's The Love Spell.
CHAPTER XV
When someone crosses the room
I want to warn you about something almost no one expects, and that caught me by surprise too the first time it happened to me.
When you finally turn toward the whole room, the first thing that tends to arrive isn't the perfect person you'd been dreaming of for years. It's usually something much smaller and much more real: a conversation you weren't expecting, a coffee with someone you'd never looked at twice, a friendship that suddenly becomes important. And often, without realizing it, women dismiss exactly that for not resembling what they imagined.
1. Don't measure it against the fantasy What's real almost never looks exactly like what you imagined during the years of waiting. That doesn't make it less valid.
2. Give it more than one meeting before deciding The habit of closing off quickly, to protect yourself, can still be active even after doing this work. Give yourself permission to see someone more than once before ruling them out.
3. Don't apologize for taking time to trust Opening up again doesn't mean doing it with no guard at all. You can be looking at the whole room and still go slowly.
Valeria, someone has appeared and I don't know if I'm truly ready or if I just want it to be a yes. That doubt reaches me almost every time after this ritual, and it's a good sign, not a bad one. It means you're looking with your eyes open, not just with wanting.
CHAPTER XVI
What this book cannot give you
I'm going to close this book with the same honesty I close every book in this collection.
This ritual turns you toward the room. Any woman who reads it calmly can do that, without needing me for anything else. But there's something no book can know without looking at your specific case: exactly which door is yours, how long you've been staring at it without realizing, and what's already there, right now, in some corner of your room, waiting for you to finally see it.
And I want to say something else, because every book in this collection makes the same idea clearer to me: attraction, money, luck, letting go of an old story, these are almost never separate problems. A woman still staring at an old door in love often also keeps looking backward in her finances, in her luck, in the confession that never came. All of that lives closer together than it seems.
If you finish this book and feel that the door you named still weighs too much for you to let go of alone, you don't have to do it alone. That's exactly what the rest of this collection exists for, and what a reading made only for you exists for.
Thank you for letting me into your waxing-moon Tuesday. Of all the books I've written so far, this is the one I most wanted to write.
ONE LAST WORD FROM VALERIA
What comes next
If you've made it this far, you already know how to turn toward the whole room.
What this book can't tell you is what or who is already in that room, waiting for you to see it. Because that isn't general: it's yours. I can teach you to look. I can't know from here what's already there without looking at your cards.
That's why, when a woman finishes this ritual, I usually tell her the same thing: turning around is the first step, not the last. Now it's time to see what's truly in that room, for you, at this specific moment in your life.
I see that in a personalized reading. Yours, about your situation, not a general reading for a thousand women at once. It reaches your inbox in under twenty-four hours.
I didn't need someone to arrive. I needed to stop looking where no one was anymore.
I hope you turn around soon. And I hope, when you do, you see everything that's been waiting there for you all along.
With all my love,
Valeria
